Project Writeup

My capstone project is about making a social platform that helps people self-organize local tea groups and searching for existing tea events. They can explore events by typing city zip code to find the groups or events next to them. Confirmation emails along attending instructions will be sent to the users after booking through the app. The goal for this app is to connecting people online with similar interests and then meet them in real world.

Over the summer, I begun to teach myself using Buildfire to learn about how I can manually code on the website based on the template. I did this by watching tutorial on youtube and Builtfire website. In June,  I was interned at the design agency in Shanghai doing graphic and web design. My team and I created a shopping website for a local bee company. During the process, We came up with a concept model, designed clickable prototypes(see below), and conducted several in-person test sessions with clients.  All of these gave me a good sense of how a product team approaches a project. Moreover, I learned about different methods of doing user-testings, leading conversations and etc.  Moving forward with my app, I am going to use focus groups as a method to conduct user-testing session and discuss with users about some pain points and the improvement that needs to make.

Moving forward, I am going to refine my prototypes I’ve done last semester prototypes #1 and get questions ready for focus group. I also going to explore more options on Buildfire and look at some coding tools I might ended up using.
